Fabienne Chetail joined the faculty of psychology and education with a permanent professorship at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) in 2014. After a Ph.D on the role of syllables in reading, she started working on the orthographic processing of words and on the impact of the consonant-vowel structure of letter strings. She examined these issues both in adults and in children, in different languages, using behavioral paradigmes (reaction times tasks, eye tracking) and neuroscientific approaches (EEG, MEG). More generally, she interested in the mechanisms of word perception and word learning, as well as in the development and impacts of sensitivity to regularities in real and artificial stimuli.
Fabienne Chetail is a supervisor of the research project 13. Spelling ability and associated skills.
