Jeni Bickley is an Advisory Teacher of the Deaf (ToD) at the Yorkshire Auditory Implant Service (YAIS). She is a teacher who has worked in the field of deaf education for 17 years, 8 of those in cochlear implantation at YAIS. Her experience in deaf education includes working in community, and in both primary and secondary resourced provisions. She also has 12 years’ experience as a mainstream high school teacher. She is a qualified Teacher of the Deaf with a Master’s degree in Deaf Education.
Jeni’s role involves being a key link with families – assessing /monitoring functional listening and communication of paediatrics both pre and post implant. She also liaises closely with local professionals in community which includes delivering CI training to settings / services across Yorkshire. In addition, she has led and contributed to the research activities of the service. This has influenced service provision and resulted in presentations at national conferences.
